Sunset Music Festival (SMF), one of the largest electronic music festivals in the southeast, returns to Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium this Memorial Day Weekend. Every year, SMF and ForHearts bring this musical event to the Tampa Bay community, showcasing some of the top artists in EDM while raising funds and awareness for the life-saving mission of ForHearts Worldwide.
The 2021 edition of the Sunset Musical Festival marked a triumphant return for the event after being canceled due to the COVID pandemic in 2020.
“It was the largest mass gathering in Florida in 16 months when we did it last Memorial Day Weekend,” says Stan Tipton, founder and manager of Sailaway Productions and partner to ForHearts and SMF. “All thanks to the wonderful Sunset team who made it all happen and were able to aid ForHearts in achieving their mission.”
That mission is to grow awareness of our life-saving work in providing pacemakers to those in need worldwide while also educating festival attendees about their own cardiovascular health. In 2021, some 64,000 festival attendees heard about our mission as Heartbeat International Foundation and how they could become involved. Our team on-site also had the opportunity to meet attendees one-on-one at our station during the festival, where we offered blood pressure and oxygen readings and shared information about cardiovascular disease.
For the 2022 SMF, we can’t wait to share our expanded vision as ForHearts Worldwide and how our new brand will speak to our initiatives to do more for hearts in need around the world. We hope to speak to a crowd even larger than 2021’s headcount of 64,000, as the 2022 SMF stands to be the biggest yet.
As the tenth year of Sunset Musical Festival, this event will mark the milestone anniversary and the festival’s expansion to a now three-day event, kicking off on Friday, May 27, and running through Sunday, May 29. Over 65 acts will perform on four stages over those three days, including a brand-new stage and a redesign of existing stages and the layout of the festival grounds.
Sunset Music Festival was already one of our biggest annual fundraisers, and the event just got bigger! We are thrilled to partner with Sunset Music Presents and Disco Donnie Presents to continue raising funds and awareness for our mission – to continue providing life-saving cardiovascular procedures and care to people in developing countries around the world.
Sunset Music Festival attendees come for the love of music and the EDM community. But in the excitement and fun of the three-day festival, they will be saving lives and have the opportunity to make a global impact through ForHearts.
It’s an opportunity best described in the feelings of Stan Tipton: “While I don’t have the skills a cardiologist or other doctors may have to save lives, if I can contribute in some way to this, there’s a personal satisfaction that comes from being able to [do] that.”
