Every year in September, the World Heart Federation harnesses the power of digital media to promote the awareness, prevention, and management of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) around the world through World Heart Day. This year, World Heart Day will take place on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021, and ForHearts Worldwide calls upon our supporters to join us as we push forward a global message to #UseHeart to Beat CVD on our digital media platforms! By connecting our hearts, we can help bring awareness of the millions of people around the world who do not have access to the medical care they need and deserve.
What is World Heart Day?
World Heart Day is a global phenomenon that calls upon digital creators, influencers, health advocates, medical professionals, and those who are dedicated to ending unnecessary death and suffering caused by cardiovascular disease to help spread the message and increase awareness.
This year, World Heart Day sends the message that all over the world, hearts are hurting. Some places have it worse than others – especially those who feel disconnected and forgotten. Lack of access to medical care, technology, and supplies limits the prevention and diagnosis of cardiovascular conditions, and social isolation adds an additional burden for many people around the world. But this is our chance for change. World Heart Day aims to give everyone, everywhere the same chance to fight cardiovascular disease. We must connect and heal every heart!

How Can I Participate in World Heart Day?
Using the hashtag, #UseHeart, you can create your own personal messages to help inspire and empower others to make healthy choices. For instance, you can share a personal story of your own, share facts about heart health and specific risks to avoid such as smoking or excessive alcohol, or share your favorite heart-healthy food recipes. Alternatively, you can share HBI’s social media content directly on your own feed! The power of digital communication has never been greater or more important than it is right now. The World Heart Federation also provides a library of resources in more than ten languages with graphics formatted for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, gifs, and as well as leaflets that can be printed and distributed in your community. Through social media and the willingness to connect each heart, we all have the power to lift our friends, families, and the communities around us in the pursuit of global cardiac health.
How Can I Directly Help People with Cardiovascular Disease?
Although COVID has limited our ability to fundraise in person, leveraging the power of digital connection is our strongest force! By sharing and promoting empowering messages that support healthy lifestyle choices, we can all take part by educating and informing our circles of influence on the importance of a healthy heart.
At ForHearts Worldwide, our mission has always been to provide cardiac implantable devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators, to people in developing nations for free. The only way we can do this is through continued financial support from donors, monthly givers, and other heart heroes! For only $500, we can save the life of a man, woman, or child who desperately needs a pacemaker to survive. Not only that, but our care is for life – we pledge to follow up with each patient for the rest of their life so that their pacemaker is maintained and replaced as needed.
